School Health Profiles

What are the School Health Profiles?
The School Health Profiles helps state and district education and health agencies monitor the current status of school health education; school health policies related to HIV infection/AIDS, tobacco use prevention, unintentional injuries and violence, physical activity, and food service; physical education; asthma management activities; and family and community involvement in school health programs.

Who conducts the survey?
In Kansas, Kansas Coordinated School Health conducts the survey every other year during the even years (2006, 2008, 2010, ...). Surveys are typically mailed out for the lead health educator and principal at randomly selected schools to complete.

How are schools selected?
Middle/Junior High and High Schools are randomly selected to participate in the School Health Profiles survey. The random selection is done by the Centers for Disease Control and sent to Kansas.

Kansas Coordinated School Health has conducted the survey in 2006 and 2008 and will be participating in the 2010 survey. Click below to see the results from the 2008 and 2006 School Health Profiles.
